Car sharing

Car-sharing (also called lift-sharing, ride-sharing and car-pooling) is when two or more people share a car and travel together. You can benefit from the convenience of the car, whilst reducing the costs and the number of one-person cars on the road, which can help reduce pollution and congestion. Our travel survey suggested that your kids will probably enjoy the company too!


How car-sharing works
You can speak with other parents who you know live near you, and agree between you who is going to drive on which days and at what time (and if you're going to split the cost of the petrol)... and that's it!


There are also websites where you can try to find a lift, or offer one yourself, for example Liftshare.com.
