Welcome to Year 2!

We are very pleased to welcome you to Year 2. This year in Year 2, we are introducing Continuous Provision, where children undertake learning in the environment instead of just at tables. This means the rooms will look different to what you and the children might be expecting. We have put a lot of work in to the new environment and can't wait to share it with you. Below you will find pictures of our new Year 2 rooms. There are differences between the classrooms, but both have the same learning areas and the same curriculum offer. There will also be opportunities for outdoor learning throughout the day.

This is Mrs Jones' classroom.
This is Mrs Holden's classroom.
Useful information:

Doors open at 8:50am and the register will be taken at 9am. Children arriving later than this must be taken to sign in at the office before being brought to the classroom by an adult.

Children wait with their adults in the outdoor areas for their respective classroom - please do not allow children to play with equipment. We make a distinction between learning and play - and often we have found that resources are broken or left in a mess, which has a negative impact on learning. When the door opens, children can say goodbye to their grown-up and can enter the classroom to put their belongings away before joining their classmates on the carpet.  We do not need the children to line up before coming in to class.

School ends at 3:30pm, children will leave through the same door. Adults can wait in the outdoor learning area - again, please do not let siblings play with our learning equipment during this time.

Children should bring a book bag/rucksack and a water bottle. All items brought or worn to school must be clearly named, please!

Children are also allowed to bring a fruit snack to school for afternoon break, if they wish. We do not allow any other snacks. Due to a severe allergy in the year group, any food item in school MUST NOT contain even traces of nuts or peanuts. We are sure you all understand the severity of this and will support us in ensuring the safety of children in our school. Thank you.

PE for both classes will take place every Thursday. Children should wear school PE kit to school, ensuring they are dressed appropriately for the weather (ie black jogging bottoms or shorts, white t-shirt or polo shirt, black trainers or pumps, grey or black (or other dark coloured) hoodie or sweatshirt.
